Greg comes from a strong equestrian background and was twice selected to represent Australia at the Olympic Games (1980 and ‘84).After retiring from equestrian competition, Eurell moved into breaking in and pre-training horses, working these roles until 1987 when he was granted his trainer’s license.

Training a team of 40 from his Cranbourne stables ‘Cadet Lodge’, Eurell always seems to have a good horse under his care.Arguably his best horse was the baldy faced sprinter Apache Cat, who won 19 of his 43 starts and more than $4 million in stakes.

Eurell's biggest success as a trainer came in 2011 when his talented mare Pinker Pinker caused a huge upset in the Cox Plate.
